Description
The ultrasonic measuring system is often used for the measurement of flow rates, especially in dynamic channels; it is available in various measuring ranges, and can also be used in channels with small flow rates (up to a meter) always with acceptable accuracy. Easy to install and easy functional verification, it is particularly suitable for use in dams, both for level tributary channels and in tunnels for the measurement of flows associated with weirs.
Applications
The instrument is particularly suitable for the monitoring of levels in tunnels of concrete, RCC and in earthfill dams, for the monitoring of leakage and drainage. It is also used for measurement of levels in basins.

MEASURING PRINCIPLE
The sensor is comprised of an antenna which emits ultrasonic pulses at short intervals; the pulses are generally directed perpendicular to the water surface whose level is being measured. The pulse reflects on the free surface of the liquid and bounces towards the instrument which picks up the return signal. The running period of the radar signals is proportional to the distance from the emitter and the free surface of the liquid. A special processing procedure ensures reliable and precise measurement.
